Atelier Mikal · Studio practice

Small paintings,
quietly held.

Mikayela Liburd paints loose, intimate portraits on paper — keepsakes from a wedding day, a couple, a face worth remembering.

About the artist

Mikayela Liburd

Mikayela works primarily in watercolour and gouache on paper. Her practice is small in scale and quiet in tone — gestural figures, soft edges, the feeling of an afternoon caught before it passes.

Trained in observation, she paints with restraint. The work is less about likeness than about the moment a face is held with care.

Atelier Mikal is her studio practice: paper paintings for weddings, and commissioned portraits for those who want something hand-made to keep.

Wedding paintings

A keepsake, painted by hand.

Each wedding piece is painted on heavy paper, roughly the size of a postcard. Loose, unhurried, gentle on detail — the kind of painting you can frame on a hallway wall and pass without thinking, then catch sight of one morning and stop.

  • Subject. The couple, or an individual portrait — painted from your own photographs.
  • Medium. Watercolour and gouache on archival paper.
  • Scale. Small format, postcard-sized. Larger papers by request.
  • Delivery. Hand-finished, signed, and shipped flat in a protective sleeve.
